About Us

UCC Dance Club provides the best college dance experience for all its members. Our club prides itself with being one which is open to all levels of dancers whether you are just looking to try something new, make friends, shake off a long day at college or if you want to improve your dance technique and dance competitively at a high standard in one of our teams.

We offer open and advanced classes in Irish Dance, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet and Hip-hop.

Within UCC, our club performs at various events run by other clubs and courses as entertainment. Every year we do our best to give what we can to charity and our annual event ‘So UCC thinks it can Dance’ is one in which different clubs and societies work with a number of our teachers to perform a dance in front of a panel of Judges! We also hold an end-of-year charity showcase where all our members get to show off what they have done throughout the year.

However, our main event is Inter-varsities. This is a competition between numerous Universities and Institutes around the country. All colleges involved come together once a year and compete against each other and show off their talent and hard work.

During the Inter-varsities in 2017, we travelled to NUIG Galway where we were strong competitors in each category and brought home first place in the Hip-hop category! In 2018, UCC held the intervarsity's in the Cork Opera House. This was a massive success with UCC placing 1st in Irish dance, 2nd in contemporary and 3rd in mixed piece. We were highly complemented by the other teams for our organisation and friendliness. 2019 was UCC’s most successful intervarsities in recent years with a total of 5 trophies returning to Cork. A huge congratulations to the contemporary team who placed 1st, the jazz team who placed 2nd, the Irish troupe who placed 3rd and to the mixed piece team who placed 2nd. A special congratulations to Sarah Cooke who won outstanding performer in the jazz category.

The club is open to new aspiring dancers all year round, our timetable is displayed on our Facebook page and under the heading training timetable.
